The story of the wine label.

When the eyes of the Austrian officer and a young Czech girl first met in 1913, none of them knew how strong the bond of unfulfilled love would enter their hearts.

Marie was only 17 years of age. Her parents had promised her to the son of a landowner from a neighbouring village. However, Marie was so charmed by Piero di Gardi a young Austrian officer that she could not think about anyone else. For long months she confided to him her feelings on small pieces of paper, and the young officer gave his love in return.

However during the battle of Gallicia by the end of summer 1914 a stray bullet ended the young officer´s life. Marie stowed her last unfinished letter, beside a bundle of letters from her beloved officer, into a military wooden chest in the attic. There it remained hidden for 87 long years.

Love letters full of desire and passion were found during the renovation of the old house where Marie once lived. The story they told became the inspiration for the art design of the wine label, on which there are letters from the young lovers and rolls of paper with secret messages.

The young Czech girl was the grandmother of the creator of the wine label. The artwork, in likeness of these letters, symbolizes the join of two beautiful people. Their fate was not in favour to them but their story stays forever.
